Cartea este prima monografie a genului publicată in Romania. Autoarea, cunoscut istoric de artă, director al Muzeului de Artă din Constanța, abordează perioada 1846 – 1916, albumul fiind rezultatul unei remarcabile activități de documentare, dar, in același timp, un răsfăț vizual insoțit de comentariul uneia dintre cele mai avizate voci in domeniu. In cele 312 pagini sunt reproduse peste 180 de ilustrații ale tablourilor care se află atat in muzeele de artă – Muzeul Național de Artă al Romaniei, muzeele din Constanța Galați, Iași, Piatra-Neamț, Suceava, Cluj-Napoca, Arad, Timișoara, Craiova, Brașov, Muzeul Municipiului București –, cat și in colecții private reprezentative din țară.
The book is the first monograph of this kind printed in Romania. The author, a well-known art critic and the manager of Constanța Art Museum, speaks about the 1846 – 1916 artistic period, and the album is the result of outstanding research work and, at the same time, a visual indulgence accompanied by the author’s comment – as one of the most powerful critic voices of the moment. Inside the 312 page volume there are over 180 illustrations of paintings which can be found in art museums all over Romania – Romanian National Art Museum, museums in Galați, Constanța, Piatra-Neamț, Suceava, Cluj-Napoca, Arad, Timișoara, Craiova, Brașov, Bucharest Municipality Museum – as well as in important private collections in our country.
